Trains aren't silent

Your Feb. 14 article, "Caltrain battles dangers of tracks," points
out efforts to ensure safety. For the life of me, I do not understand
how anyone can get hit by a train unless they are deaf and blind.

Trains make substantial noise as they move along, and they have
lights and horns. The sight of tracks should be a hint for someone to
look both ways.

I am hard put to understand why we should spend so much money for
something that wouldn't happen if people used even the most minimal
of their brain cells.
